What started as a low-tide rock-pool adventure quickly became a lesson in weather, wildlife, and why jackets matter. A family visit to Mushroom Reef Marine Park that didn’t go to plan—but was worth it anyway.

We spent a beautiful day at The Briars Wildlife Sanctuary, walking through nature and spotting wildlife like emus and wallabies in their natural habitat. The only real scare was an unexpected encounter with a bull ant — a moment that very nearly brought the day to an early end.
